Also shown are unique combos, lost discounts, and other retailer abstract marketing techniques. Over time, if you are a contracted DIYer, these will likely add up to a fortune.

USER EXPERIENCE: PLAIN AND SIMPLE

The thing you will notice first about Toolsurf is how nice and simple the layout is. The main page has no clutter with no popups trying to get your emails and unrequested playing videos, just a clean search bar and nice organized list.

Every single search, in a matter of seconds will pop up a set of basic specs to with which you will be able to compare the features of the items you need without you opening countless other tabs.

In addition, the site is really responsive, which is not something you will get from other sites that are built like old computers, which just so happen to be slow. Toolsurf is responsive and new.

With that said, the design is more functional than decorative. There’s no app here, and there’s certainly no polished experience with tailored recommendations or wish lists. Toolsurf certainly appreciates the lean design, and while that benefits performance, some users may think it’s too minimalist.

Price Accuracy: Mostly Reliable

As the adage goes, garbage in, garbage out. A price comparison tool is worthless without, well, accurate comparison data.

Personally, Toolsurf got the pricing correct roughly 90 percent of the time. When I was clicking through to the retailer’s site, most listings were right. Once in a while, I would see a price that was outdated, or a deal that was no longer available, but these examples were infrequent.

While Toolsurf has broad coverage in tool retailing, it fails to cater to some smaller, more regionally distributed tool retailers as well as some specialized tool retailers.
